Christopher Madsen

Christopher Madsen is a saxophonist, composer, and educator from the Chicago area. After graduating from DePaul University in 2003 with a Bachelor’s degree in Jazz Studies, he spent 3 years in the Julliard School’s Jazz Program and performed with such artists as Wynton Marsalis, Bobby Short and Barbara Lea. In 2006, he moved back to the Chicago area where he leads his own groups, in addition to regularly performing with the Rob Parton Big Band, the Mulligan Mosaics Big Band, and many others. He continues to be one of the most in-demand saxophonists and composers on the Chicago jazz scene, and currently serve as Professor of Jazz Studies at Northwestern University in Evanston (IL) and Jazz Director at Midwest Young Artists in Highwood (IL). Chris has coordinated the National High School Music Institute’s Jazz Division since 2009, and has also performed and presented clinics in the U.S., Japan, Costa Rica, and Spain.
