Joseph Phillips
Born: April 26, 1962
Joseph Phillips currently serves as Director (Supervisor) of Music for the Carmel Central School District in Patterson, NY and Core Clinical Faculty at Manhattanville College in Purchase, NY where he teaches classes in educational leadership. Prior to his current positions, he served Director of Fine Arts, Gifted, and Magnet programs for Galveston, TX schools.
Dr. Phillips has presented at numerous regional, state, and national conferences and also serves as a guest conductor in the New York area. Additionally, he has written articles The Instrumentalist magazine and was a contributing editor for the popular books Teaching Music Through Performance in Orchestra, Vols. I & II. Dr. Phillips’ compositions remain widely performed among school-aged ensembles, and he was the winner of the Texas Orchestra Directors Association composition contest in 1998.
