Gerald Heslip

Gerald Heslip

Born: August 26, 1959

A graduate of Humber College in Toronto, Ontario, he has worked as a professional drummer and percussionist in the rock/pop, jazz and symphonic fields. He has also earned a Music Diploma with a specialty in Wind Conducting from the University of Calgary.

 

From 1984 to 2018 he was with The Canadian Forces’ bands as an arranger, composer, performer, conductor, soloist and educator. Major Heslip's last position was as the Officer Commanding of Music Division in Borden, Ontario, where he ran the Canadian Armed Forces music school and taught conducting.

 

A past contributor to “Percussive Notes” magazine, his composition “Whose Kit Is This?” (published by Kendor) won third place in a Percussive Arts Society composition contest.
