Gerald Heslip |
Born: August 26, 1959
A graduate of Humber College in Toronto, Ontario, he has worked as a professional drummer and percussionist in the rock/pop, jazz and symphonic fields. He recently received a Music Diploma with a specialty in Wind Conducting from the University of Calgary.
Since 1984 he has been with The Canadian Forces’ bands as an arranger, composer, performer, conductor, soloist and educator. Presently Major Heslip is the Director of Music and Commanding Officer of The Central Band of the Canadian Forces in Ottawa, Ontario.
A past contributor to “Percussive Notes” magazine, his composition “Whose Kit Is This?” (published by Kendor) won third place in a Percussive Arts Society composition contest.
