Lars Halle |
Born: August 18, 1973
Based in Philadelphia, Lars is a jazz/big band drummer, arranger and composer. He leads the Lars Halle Jazz Orchestra from his drum set, and his music has been performed by and written for such established jazz performers as Bobby Shew, Rob McConnell, Jon Faddis, Kurt Elling, John Swana, Tim Warfield, and Swedish trumpet phenomenon Lasse Lindgren.
Originally from the Scandinavian peninsula, Lars has been involved in music in the United States since 1989. He is a graduate of the University of the Arts in Philadelphia in 1996 and where he currently serves on the music faculty. Lars is also on the faculty of the Pennsylvania Governor’s School for the Arts, where he teaches free improvisation, jazz improvisation, jazz history, percussion, topics in 20th century music, computer engraving, and film criticism. He also co-directs the PGSA jazz ensemble. Lars is the vice-president of Side One Jazz Programs
