Frank J. Halferty

Born: May 7, 1954

Frank currently teaches in the Shoreline School District in Shoreline (WA) where he has also served as the District Music Coordinator for the past seven years. He has taught the bands and served as Music Department Head at Einstein Middle School in Shoreline for the past 17 years. He holds two Bachelor of Arts Degrees (1976) from Seattle Pacific University in Music Education and Music Theory and Literature. He received a Master of Music in Composition from New Mexico State University in 1982 and was granted the distinction of Crimson Scholar.

Frank is a member of MENC, NBA, ASCAP, PHI KAPPA PHI and ALPHA KAPPA SIGMA. Currently he has over one hundred compositions and arrangements in print. He has 34 years of experience teaching instrumental music at all levels, and has held numerous positions as director of choirs and community groups. He is the recipient of fourteen ASCAP awards as well as Outstanding Educator Awards in both the Shoreline and Lake Washington School Districts. He's received The Outstanding Music Educator Award from The Sno-King Music Educators in Washington State and is listed in Who's Who in American Education and Who's Who in the World. As an active member in his community, Halferty has served ten years as a board member on the Shoreline Arts Council and is a liaison between the Shoreline School District and the Arts Council. Currently he maintains a busy schedule composing, fulfilling music administration and teaching duties, guest conducting, and adjudicating.
