M. L. Daniels |
Born: January 11, 1931
Dr. Daniels retired in 1993 after teaching at Abilene (TX) Christian University for 34 years. He was music department chairman for fifteen years and taught a variety of subjects, including music theory, orchestration, counterpoint, composition, class brass and class strings. He also served as assistant band director and as orchestra director during a portion of his tenure at ACU. He played trumpet for several season with the Abilene and San Angelo symphony orchestras as well.
He has won first place five times in the composition contest sponsored annually by the American String Teachers Association with the National School Orchestra Association, with pieces for both full and string orchestra.
Though his favorite pastime is golf, M.L. regularly judges school bands and orchestras during contest season.
