Born in Kansas City, Missouri, and a composition student for three years at the Kansas City Conservatory, Bob's immense talents as an innovative jazz composer and valve trombonist have taken him to all corners of the world in a career that spans almost fifty years. His credits include writing for and playing/recording with such giants as Tex Benecke, Claude Thornhill, Stan Getz, Woody Herman, Gerry Mulligan, Jimmy Giuffre, Jim Hall, Clark Terry, Thad Jones-Mel Lewis, Manny Albam, George Russell, Gary McFarland, Joe LaBarbera, Jack Wilkins, and others too numerous to name.
Bob has also received many prestigious honors. Among them are three NARAS nominations for composing and performing, and a National Endowment for the Arts Grant for jazz composition in 1980. He has won countless "Down Beat" readers and critics polls, and is listed in "Who's Who In America."
