Edward R. Bahr |
Born: April 4,1941
Dr. Bahr teaches trombone, euphonium and tuba at Delta State University in Cleveland, Mississippi, where he also directs the student trombone ensemble, euphonium/tuba ensemble and the brass ensemble. A graduate of the Eastman School of Music (Bachelor and Master degrees), he earned his Doctorate of Musical Arts degree at the University of Oklahoma.
Bahr served as editor of Audio/Video reviews for the International Trombone Association Journal from 1975 through 2003. He has also written numerous articles for the official journals of NACWPI, TUBA, and ITA, and authored the book entitled "Trombone/Euphonium Discography" and the "Brass Recordings" section in the Encyclopedia of Recorded Sound.
Bahr has been first trombonist in the Montgomery (AL) Symphony Orchestra and the Erie (PA) Philharmonic Orchestra. He was also an active member of the Eastman Wind Ensemble, Berkshire Symphony Orchestra, Philharmonic Symphony of Westchester in Mount Vernon, New York, and has performed with the Rochester (NY) Philharmonic, Pittsburgh Symphony, Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra, Albany Symphony, and Oklahoma Symphony on trombone, euphonium and bass trumpet. Presently he is trombonist in the Delta Brass Quintet and performs as principal trombonist and euphonium soloist and conductor with the Delta Symphony of Greenville, MS.
Bahr has been guest lecturer and solo performer on trombone and euphonium at a wide variety of schools as well as state, national, and international workshops including an International "Tuba Toot", and the National Association of College Wind and Percussion Instructors Symposium.
